| Biography |
Simone (Stelzer) originates from
St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria. As a teenager in
the mid-eighties she already had some regional success with the
group Peter Pan. Finally she was selected to sing Austria's entry
for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990. Her song Keine
Mauern mehr (No walls anymore) finished on a good 10th place,
which established her breakthrough at the Austrian and German
music market. Some successful singles followed, such as Zeit
der Zärtlichkeit (Time of tenderness), Heute
nacht (Tonight), Wahre Liebe (True love),
Radio (ESC preselection 1994) or Doch dann kamst
du (But then you appeared). In 2000, Simone got the "Amadeus
Award" as Best female German-language Schlager singer. She also
worked on numerous film and theatre productions, such as
Fröhliche Chaoten (Merry chaotics), Frölich
geschieden (Merrily divorced) or the popular TV-series
Tohuwabohu (Topsy-turvy).
